Spring Chores 2023

In Spring it's time to inspect, #fertilize, water and weed our garlic.

As you can see from this picture the compressed straw, after a #PEI winter, acting as a mulch now takes on a new job as a weed suppressant. The garlic doesn't have to compete for nutrients and results in a stronger, healthier plant.... plus the straw holds moisture. An added bonus!

@upbackfarms we #fertilize our garlic with fish emulsion which is applied as a foliar using an old repurposed crop sprayer, see below. Weather permitting we will get two to three applications done before the scapes are harvested in June.
